I did like you said but when you scan for new driver,, it restores the IDT. You laptop is not W7 compliant. Hi, after updating normal windows software updates, the sound does not work, at the bottom right the speaker symbol has a red ” x” and the pop up message says”no audio output device installed” any idea’s how this happed? I’ve tried purchasing the updated drivers programs that are online, but they don’t give me back my audio. If you manage to get the audio going successfully, I suggest you also upgeade your laptop as much as possible – see the second link for guidance.

Allthough the Vista drivers are by Realtec so I dont know where you are obtaining “conexant HD autio Smart driver” from. You can try downloading then installing Vista drivers, but you’ll have to install in compatibility mode.

I originally tried re-installing the original driver and this didn’t work. It wasn’t even showing in the the Audio device options.
